Manhattan Loft, Moscow

An ambitious renovation project for an industrial building from the thirties brings the unmistakable mood of New York lofts to the heart of the Russian capital. Designed by the INRE studio, the interiors recreates and amplify its most distinctive style codes, using the iconic bare bricks for the walls, wood from the Baltic forests cut and hand-polished for the floors, planks salvaged from old Canadian barns for the ceilings and rusted metal for lamps and shelves. Meeting the taste of the owner, a lover of vintage and American classicism, all the materials and finishes help to create lived-in rooms where each element brings a story for the telling. The Regal Colors freestanding bathtub in cast iron covered in customised bright red aluminium sheet is placed quite unusually in the home office, in front of a large window offering splendid views of the city.
