One of London’s best-kept secrets are its charming “mews”—authentic villages within the city, whose cobblestone streets lined with low-rise buildings preserve the charm of the Georgian and Victorian eras.
Originally stables or coach houses for London’s aristocratic residences, starting in the 1960s these delightful buildings were transformed into ultra-luxurious homes, featuring iconic brick façades covered with climbing roses.
The one recently redesigned as an exclusive family residence is located in Duchess Mews, just steps from Soho and Mayfair.
Envisioned by the designers as an ideal bridge between tradition and innovation, it combines the home’s charming original spatial layout with custom furnishings of distinctly contemporary taste, period-inspired decorative details, and functional solutions designed to ensure maximum comfort.
The homeowners’ entire living philosophy is elegantly expressed in the stunning bathrooms, where the exquisite Decor Slabs glazed stoneware coverings create a striking visual impact. Used in both the Acanthus Pink/Gold and Acanthus Gold variants, the large-format ceramic slabs echo the aesthetic of traditional wallpaper, reinterpreting it through stylised patterns defined by pure gold detailing.
The 1930s-inspired geometries of the Vip Time taps add an extra touch of refinement, as do the sophisticated elegance of the Time accessories, and the vintage charm of the Blues sanitaryware.
