Just south of Biarritz, in a charming fishing village nestled between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean, the family home of a creative couple pays tribute to traditional Basque architecture and celebrates their many passions.
Beyond the exuberant garden framed by hydrangeas and behind the white façade with its signature red shutters, Camille (who works in fashion) and Victor (a film producer) have preserved the original terracotta and wooden floors, boldly contrasting them with the unusual colours of the wall finishes and the varied textures of woven rugs and cushions.
The interior blends iconic design pieces by Marcel Breuer, Charles Eames and Serge Mouille with Celine handbags displayed like sculptures, alongside limited-edition prints and vintage black-and-white photographs discovered at the Marrakesh flea market.
The same sophisticated atmosphere, built on an artful layering of diverse furnishings, rich with lived-in charm, defines the spacious main bathroom. Here, vibrant ceramic tiles, the 1930s-inspired lines of the Brooklyn double washbasin and the graceful 1950s style of the White Rose taps reflect a deeply personal and authentic way of turning a house into a home.
